Postal History

This is a stub page to start collecting general information about Liberian Postal History.

Liberia signed a postal convention with the England on January 20, 1850.

The first post offices, Monrovia, Buchanan and Greenville were opened in 1854.

In 1860, 33c was the international rate to the US via Liverpool.

Liberia joined the Universal Postal Union (UPU) on April 1, 1879.
